SONG OF THE WEEK: Theo Berndt – ‘Guess You Never Thought Of It That Way’

July 2, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

If you were to take the melodic bounce of Vampire Weekend and the quirky art pop of Everything Everything, blend it all together in a fine melting pot of jaunty indie beats and exuberant pop fizz, then the latest single by Swedish band Theo Berndt would come out the other end. The song in question is ‘Guess You Never […]

SONG OF THE WEEK: Slow Riot – ‘City of Culture’

June 23, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

It’s been a while since we last heard from Irish trio Slow Riot, and a lot has changed for them. They recently signed to London label Straight Lines are Fine and have just completed work on their new EP ‘Cathedral’. The first single to be taken off the EP is the fuzzed-up powerplay ‘City of Culture’.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Broken Hands – ‘Meteor’

June 16, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Canterbury five-piece Broken Hands are headed on a collision course with a ‘Meteor’ on their new space rock enthused masterpiece. ‘Meteor’ is the second single to be taken off the bands forthcoming debut album, and from what we’ve heard so far, it seems like their trajectory is only heading in one direction: skywards.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Night Engine – ‘Wound Up Tight’

June 1, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Night Engine are London’s best kept secret. The band have just released the first single ‘Wound Up Tight’ off their upcoming debut album. And in true Night Engine fashion – it’s an epic, dance party fuelled funk blaster. Tight, disco grooves dart around irresistible suavity and reconvene in illustrious, anthem-like glory.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Storms – ‘Girl’

May 19, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Since we first heard Storms melodic slacker rock all those many moons ago, we’ve fallen infectiously and venomously in love with them. With the impact of their new track ‘Girl’, we can’t help but feel even more enamoured by their ability to craft emotionally brutal, hook laden songs.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Miamigo – ‘Hard To Love’

May 13, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Miamigo made an impressive entrance with their debut single ‘Opinions’ but not many bands after achieving instant success, manage to keep the momentum going into their sophomore release and even top their efforts in doing so. But just one listen to Miamigo’s second track ‘Hard to Love’ and it’s near impossible to conjure anything less […]

SONG OF THE WEEK: October Drift – ‘You Are, You Are’

April 28, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Since their inception in 2014, October Drift have quickly established themselves as a dominant musical force. After the soaring success of their début release ‘Whoever’, the four-piece have returned to further cement themselves as permanent fixtures in our lives with the breathtaking new single ‘You Are, You Are’.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Cavalry – ‘An Understanding’

April 21, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

We’ve been fans of the Liverpool alt-folk collective, Cavalry, for a while now. But since last year’s sudden arrival to the scene with their gorgeous début ‘Lament’, the band had taken a prolonged breather, leaving us high and dry, and craving for some new material to savour. But today marks a change. The quintet have […]

SONG OF THE WEEK: KLOË – ‘Feel’

April 5, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Rising up from the ashen debris of a former love that did her wrong, Glasgow siren KLOË was born. After the emotional outpouring of her début single ‘Grip’, we meet a somewhat softer side to the singer on ‘Feel’.

February 24, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Broken Hands have always been a firm favourite of ours. Now the band are back in full force with their first sonic output in over a year entitled ‘Death Grip’. A powerful 3 minutes of guitar fuzz, pummelling percussion and raging vocal intensity.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Babaganouj – ‘Can’t Stop’

February 12, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Brisbane’s dreamy noise pop foursome Babaganouj have totally won over our hearts. The sun-strewn radiance of Babaganouj’s new track ‘Cant Stop’ makes us want to run down to the beach and tussle in the waves, all the while the sun rays beat down on our backs.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Shake Shake Go – ‘England Skies’

January 28, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Welsh-French folk pop charmers Shake Shake Go have demolished our hearts with the beautiful romance of their new single ‘England Skies’. Flourishing and growing in a crescendoing-like fashion, we fell in love with their liberating sound instantly.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Le Noire – ‘Fire’

January 5, 2015April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Now we like our music loud and seductively tantalising, but Le Noire have taken it to the next level with their début effort ‘Fire’. We are treated to smoky, fizzing hot’n’heavy unrestrained rock. Now that’s something to be excited about.

SONG OF THE WEEK: VITAMIN – ‘Did It For You’

November 30, 2014April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Up and comers VITAMIN are being tipped for big things by all the right people. Their vibrant, optimistic indie pop has just enough charm to leave you weak at the knees every time. When the sunny days are dying out and every day its getting that little bit colder, VITAMIN are our saviours.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Twin Hidden – ‘Join Hands’

November 2, 2014April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Twin Hidden have released their newest musical delight entitled ‘Join Hands’. In which they mix classical elements with elegant pop hooks. What Twin Hidden do best is combining the dreaminess of childlike discovery and adventure with intelligent lyrical content.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Jasia – ‘Safety’

October 11, 2014April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Picture a windswept, snowy mountainous landscape, now press play on Jasia’s ‘Safety’ and sit back and take it all in. Do feel that? That’s the shiver inducing power of Jasia’s grandiose orchestral electronica or maybe it’s just the feeling of blissful solitude that Jasia evokes. Either way, it’s something we will keep coming back for.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Sean O’Neill – ‘Carried In The Wind’

September 30, 2014April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

As the sun sets on another day and the days get shorter as we head into the winter months, sometimes we need some musical comfort to warm us up inside and give us strength. The answer to this comes in the form of Sean O’Neill’s uplifting new single ‘Carried In The Wind’.

SONG OF THE WEEK: Hollow States – ‘If I Have To Grow Up’

September 22, 2014April 17, 2017Charlotte HolroydComment(0)

Hollow States are a burgeoning new band from Sydney, we’re very pleased to bring you their début single ‘If I Have To Grow Up’. A somewhat troubled piano/synth driven track about clinging on to those younger years, being stuck in a continual phase of confusion, being too scared of the future and finding the strength to […]
