FESTIVAL PREVIEW: Live At Leeds In The Park 2022

Festivals are back, baby. Throughout all of this uncertainty over the past couple years, music has remained high on the mind and a longing for live performance has never faltered. So… good news for all music fans: Live at Leeds, in 2022, has not just one event planned, but two—and first up is their outdoor offering, Live at Leeds: In the Park. A new event residing just afar of the city centre, in the beautiful grounds of Temple Newsam, for a day-long adventure exploring through some of the most exciting sounds of today. It all takes place on Saturday, 4th of June.

With stages curated by the folks at MTV, DIY and Dork, it’s clear that the talent playing under these banners will be just as enticing as the cult status these icons have fostered themselves. Headlining the main stage and bolstering the longest set of the festival is Bombay Bicycle Club, a stalwart assurance in feel-good. Their resounding success speaks for itself and their set will be a must see as it is one of the first in only a few confirmed UK appearances by the group this year. The Vaccines, Sea Girls, Sports Team, Holly Humberstone, Alfie Templeman and Lauran Hibberd, rest assured, will be highlights throughout the main stage’s run on the day.

Filling the DIY Big Top with their luscious candids on life, topping this stage’s bill, is returning Live at Leeds heroes Easy Life, who are the obvious choice to watch ahead of the festival’s final music on the main stage later in the evening. The USP of this festival’s scheduling is pretty impressive, with timing clashes minimalised, so that in theory, all who venture should be able to catch a high percentage of the acts they wish to see throughout the day (visit the clash finder for more info on set times). It’s an age-old dilemma of which we’re grateful to the organisers for keeping in mind. It makes a huge difference. Also featuring in the DIY Big Top tent: Arlo Parks, HONNE, Confidence Man, Dream Wife, Cassia and The Lounge Society.

Over on the Dork Presents stage, there’s fun aplenty with The Mysterines, Kid Kapichi, ADMT, Coach Party, Courting, Finn Askew, Kynsy, Love’n’Joy, L’Objectif, Molly Payton, Porij, Sfven and Zuzu. Then, rounding out the roster of stages, is the Hill Top stage, which will celebrate all things guitar with staples of the scene including; The Pigeon Detectives, The Snuts, Tribes, The Blinders, Stone, Dylan John Thomas and The Royston Club.

As early summer festivals go, Live at Leeds: In the Park already has the picturesque views confirmed and the unmissable sounds to match. Don’t hesitate to plan your day or you might just miss out on one of the most satisfying events of the year. See you in the fields.
