SONG OF THE WEEK: Albin Lee Meldau – ‘Persistence’

Leading the way in sunny splendour, ahead of the release of forthcoming extended player ‘Bloodshot’, is Albin Lee Meldau’s blinding tenacity on new cut ‘Persistence’.

With strong ties to the arts, Meldau’s future was always more inclined to follow the path of which his lineage predicted (his mother, a jazz singer and his father, a punk rocker), and by golly does it suits him. Rocking with retro ideals and a true old-time vocal signature, Meldau proves to be a contemporary artist not of his time. All the better for us in 2017.

In this first new material of the year, Meldau leaves behind the soulful melodrama of the ‘Lovers’ EP and projects yet another side of his engaging musical pursuits. Superfluous melodic leads guide the rhythm section into a feel-good pace with Meldau’s ever attention-grabbing vocals reigning proud over the procession. It is artist’s like Meldau that make this music business thing all worth it.

The new single ‘Persistence’ is out now via Astralwerks/Caroline International. Purchase on iTunes here.
