Sometimes simplicity is key. No diverting melodies or show off-y instrumental tangents. And showcasing that less can be more is the little-over-a-week-old single, ‘Ordinary‘ by newcomer, Joe Connor Little.
A gentle, captivating track, the song is a nice little step back into the rudimentary acoustic singer-songwriter era. The lyrics paint a picture of loneliness and confusion in a relationship yet tinged with optimism and an embrace of just letting feelings flow, Little’s sentimentality grows powerful as a tenderly exposing beacon of rousing humanity.
Really aiding how the song makes one feel, are the beautifully thought through visuals in the accompanying music video (directed by Little’s friend, Isaac Crutchley). A blend of split screen scenes involving Little and cutaways of images that really highlight the words within the song – it’s a video worth a watch.
Check it out below and we look forward to hearing and seeing more of the London-based singer in the near future.
