Commenting on a love that’s never been replaced, ‘Falling’ is an emotional official first single by Australian singer-songwriter MAY; instilling poignant commentary in her lyrics and heart-wrenching vocals trumping the likes of Hannah Reid from London Grammar, you’re stopped in your tracks.
Continuing the subtly soft yet impactful piano melodies in her music as we have seen in previous online releases such as ‘Ballerino’ and ‘Sunday Night,’ as a listener you are left entranced by the haunting and soulful tones in her vocals.
It’s astonishing how a simple piano melody enveloped by MAY’s distinct voice can leave such an impression after one listen, but it does. Explaining the story of ‘Falling,’ MAY says: “I woke up in the middle of the night and wrote it. He was my first love, I was blinded by it. I’ve never been in love since and it’s the only song I have written that comes from this naive vulnerability.”
Accompanied by a poignant black-and-white visual, ‘Falling’ is the perfect introduction to MAY’s upcoming debut E.P ‘Phantom;’ setting the tone for a transcendent, emotional journey for the listener.
‘Falling’ is out now via Best Laid Plans – available to Stream/Purchase here.
