The Orielles, one of the finest British bands around right now, have finally penned a release date for their debut album, Silver Dollar Moment, releasing on February 16th 2017 through Heavenly Records.
The young West Yorkshire trio have spent the past couple years dropping banger after absolute banger, earning airtime on BBC 6Music and slots at Manchester’s Neighbourhood Festival. Named after ’60s girl group The Shirelles and self-describing themselves as “indie” in the classic ’80s DIY sense, it’s this combination that fulfils their excellent music, a combination of girl-group harmonies, blissful yet anxious C86/jangle-pop guitars, and influences from funk, dub and ESG that leave a propelling rhythm to their charming sound. These coalesced into the eight-minute ‘Sugar Tastes Like Salt’, their finest song yet and one of the best of the year, a wailing, determined indie dancefloor classic.
While that track won’t appear on the album, other brilliant tunes like ‘I Only Bought It For The Bottle’ and ‘Let Your Dogtooth Grow’ will, so rest assured that Silver Dollar Moment will be a debut you’d be a fool to miss.
Silver Dollar Moment will be available on CD and vinyl. Pre-order here.
