TRACK OF THE DAY: Softer Still – ‘Wishing Well’

Indie dream-pop group Softer Still continue to hail super-sweet shoegaze from Shepperton, Surrey, on new single ‘Wishing Well’. The pop song describing a jealous relationship between two friends glistens an intoxicating melody, as the first single from the band’s forthcoming EP ‘Visions Of You’.

For fans of America’s DIIV, ‘Wishing Well’ drips a dreamy pop sound of dark matter. Despite visiting the central topic of a conflicting relationship, Softer Still behold blissful effect. “Do you care if you cry all night, cried all night again?” spools ’80s feel vocals over swirls of colourful and breezy sound. “Release me,” whispers a zephyr of voice over cascading tangles of unrequited love story sweetening guitars. Softer Still demonstrates a unique and captivating ability to even make a sorrowful tale resound as soothing.

Softer Still’s new EP ‘Visions Of You’ sees release July 28th. Catch Softer Still live and in person at The Great Escape Festival, this May.
