LISTEN: Orchards – ‘Darling’

Brighton math-pop four-piece Orchards, preempt sunny summer skies with the release of latest single ‘Darling’.

Riding off the back of success from early singles, ‘Peggy’ and ‘Honey’, Orchards’ latest delivery is their best work yet. Combining tumbling drums with neatly cut layers of guitar, their unbounding energy is reminiscent of Fickle Friends.

Listen twice and you’ll realise this is more than just another splashy, ’80s math-pop hit. There’s an underlying rhythmic progression, characteristic of Orchards’ tendency for left-field experimentation, that gives this gem an extra sparkle.

This is not least in part due to their work recording with engineer/producer Thomas Le Beau Morley (Wolf Alice, Three Trapped Tigers, Delta Sleep) as well as experience drawn from stints supporting NYC duo PWR BTTM on the UK and France legs of their European tour.

The new single ‘Darling’ is available to purchase now via Bandcamp.
