17-year-old George Van De Broek (aka Yellow Days) has a lot to be thankful for this year. After all, in the mere ten months that he’s been active online (uploading rough cuts to soundcloud with limited social media presence), the young songwriter/producer has found himself signed to the same label as BANKS – London imprint Good Years. His latest single ‘Your Hand Holding Mine’, continues to capture his raw soulful croon but the production reveals a less familiar polished sheen to his work.
Finding sway and swagger in the world of contemporary jazz, Yellow Days might be the saviour to bring the genre to a younger audience. Van De Broek writes about odd and confusing feelings, those strong emotions that don’t quite fall into the familiar ones. But delivered from a seemingly more universal, yet unique perspective, it is easy to find points of reference within his songwriting.
