TRACK OF THE DAY: Slow Riot – ‘Absent Dreams’

Slow Riot cut ties with new single ‘Absent Dreams’. This clean slate equally drives the band forward sonically, the dark pop ambitions grow misty amongst the smoke-screen of distortion and sinister lunges at character.

Of the song’s subject matter, lyricist Niall Clancy offers: “Absent Dreams is about reaching the realisation that those who affect your life negatively don’t need to be tolerated. It’s about looking for reasons to hold onto the past and not finding any.”

Slow Riot continue to impress. Their lean but potent approach to post-punk is what will send their name to the top, taking on heavyweights like Savages and Eagulls in the process. Sample the tight grooves, motorik rhythm, and agile blackened atmosphere below.

The new single from Slow Riot is out now, via Killing Moon. Buy on iTunes here.
