Australia’s Why We Run don’t fit the mould, they re-invent the wheel. The alt-rock four piece since releasing impressive debut single ‘Comfortable Lie’ early last year, continue to stagger and break boundaries with their complex sonic artworks in the most distinct way possible. New single ‘Hallway’ takes action in previewing the band’s debut full-length record ‘Holograms’, due out later this month.
There’s a fully consuming presence lingering across the five-minute span of ‘Hallway’ and once bathed in melancholy, every sprawling word is wounded by the unspoken scars of the past. The main melody line is traced by a marimba, infusing a pensive sensibility onto its pitter-patter harmony. ‘Hallway’, the band explain, started off as a way to “write something that sounded like a children’s song, but as the song started to take shape it became something much darker.”
‘Holograms’ is the debut album from Why We Run, new single ‘Hallway’ features on the record which is due for release on June 24th.
