Swimming Tapes are still in their infancy. But since emerging a mere two months ago, the London band have played a couple of introductory shows and have finally uncovered their wonderful debut release, ‘Souvenirs’.
Alongside the aquatic visuals that the single bares, is their ubiquitous craving for the sun. A theme that follows suit within the bright sonics of their glowing guitar pop, akin to the dreamy indie of Real Estate and fellow Yanks Cheerleader.
‘Souvenirs’ breezily readies its powers and reaches adoring limits in under 30 seconds, with plush yet clean reverb-laden guitar melodies and driving percussive backing. Resting atop is languid vocal harmonies which prop up singer Robbie Reid’s rich and potent lead vocals, that sing of fading youth. Swimming Tapes will be our musical guide, as we wait in anticipation for the sunnier climes to appear.
