We are very pleased to be able to premiere a powerful and intimate performance of ‘Help Yourself’ by Bryde, filmed by the team at Ont’ Sofa. It’s unrelenting and immensely sincere.
‘Help Yourself’ speaks of a turbulent relationship, focussing on the unravelling character of the participants, as they try to navigate and weather the blows of their partner’s forced darkness. Bryde’s words are made violent by the guttural blows of her visceral electric accompaniment, ensuring that her message of self-belief is felt in all its triumphant glory. She sings with conviction of a deeply felt sorrow, managing to fully retain the catharsis that comes from unburdening the soul.
Bryde fights bloodied and bruised through the bleak pastures to the culmination of the performance, what remains is her resilient outcry “if you can’t help yourself, no one else is gonna fall for this”.
The session was filmed at YouTube Space in London, and can be viewed exclusively below.
