Manchester’s Slow Readers Club have always been firm favourites of ours, and they continue to stun with each new release. Taken from their glorious second album ‘Cavalcade’ is new single ‘Plant the Seed’ – a brooding, intense three minutes of anthemic indie-electro. It’s the band at their most innovative.
The rising throb of synth and percussion quickly form a sophisticated pulsing rhythm, it’s the basis for the track’s inherent danceability and driving new wave groove, only enhanced by singer Aaron Starkie’s brilliant falsetto vocal. ‘Plant the Seed’ is a tight, taut, stylish little gem from the rising indie band, and it confirms what every fan of the band has always known, that this Manchester four-piece are like the gold dust depicted in the video below – luminous, and should be celebrated.
