WATCH: Geppetto & The Whales – ‘1814’

‘1814’ is the heartfelt début single from Belgium’s Geppetto & The Whales, the track is taken from the bands début album ‘Heads of Woe’. The video evokes a warm and fuzzy feeling, the perfect accompaniment to the long winter night’s that are drawing in.

‘1814’ is a heart warming re-telling of actual events, the band explain: “This song is based on a 200 year old diary from someone who lived in the same village as we do. He had to fight in a Napoleonic war against his own people, was captured in Russia, escaped and made his way home on a 7000 miles foot journey. The way he describes the feeling of coming home after so many years is what we’ve tried to capture with this song.”

The video echoes this sentiment as we follow this animated character on his long journey back to his loved one’s. After watching the video, nothing will stop you from falling madly and deeply in love with this band. I can safely say, in my case, it’s true.
