SONG OF THE WEEK: ETCHES – ‘The Charm Offensive’

Liverpool’s ETCHES dropped their first official single,The Charm Offensive, last week premièring the song on Clash Music to rave reviews. After their demo, Let’s Move In, hit the inter-web late last year, immediately garnering ‘Song of the Week’ status here at Bitter Sweet Symphonies, we fell in love with ETCHES sound and the rest is history as they say.

ETCHES are slowly but surely making their way into the public conciousness, with their atmospheric electronic arrangements, melancholic moody vocals, pensive haunting lyrics, and ambient tones, which grow and wash over you like a monochromic haze of melodious beauty. The true greatness of this track lies in its subtle use of the cow bell, well I may be bias to this but you doesn’t love a cow bell?! Listen to the track below and please if you like them, keep in touch with them on twitter and facebook, the links are below.

After hearing this song live also last week, I can safely say this band are definitely superstars in the making. They have a tight live set and it connects so well with a live setting, it’s something really special to see this band perform, it’s more of an experience, a musical experience. Be sure to catch ETCHES live one day, you won’t regret it or better yet head down to their single launch party at London’s Sebright Arms on 20th Feb. To celebrate the release of this single and if you buy a ticket you instantly get a download of the track! So, it’s well worth the £4, I mean that’s loose change if you really think about it.
