The Assist are a indie guitar four piece from Walsall, West Midlands. The band’s made up of brothers, Mikey Stanton (lead vocals) and Ryan Stanton (guitar), Jak Baker (bass) and Ben Faulkner (drums). They may be young but they sure do have something, listen to their new track, Control below to see what I mean.
The band only formed this year, with only 10 months to their existence they have already achieved quite a lot, headlining their own gig at Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge, supporting slots with Reverend and the Makers and an ever growing fanbase, they are on the right track. They cite some of their musical influences as The Enemy, The Twang, The Stone Roses and The Arctic Monkeys, which leads them in good standing for the music they create themselves.
Their music is very lyric driven, with an emphasis on a great driving beat also, infectious, melodious guitar riffs bring this to forefront. One band comes to my mind when listening to The Assist, with the combination of catchy songwriting and indie musings, Leeds lads Quentins Basement, they would compliment each other so perfectly.
