Track of the Day

TRACK OF THE DAY: Harmony Byrne – ‘Good Idea’

A few tracks sound like classics. From the second they start playing, it feels like they could’ve been around for a lifetime. They leak story and feeling. ‘Good Idea’ is one of those tracks. Harmony Byrne releases this sultry track ahead of her Heavy Doors LP. From the first note, I fell in love.

The composition is layered. It has texture as instruments come and go. The acoustic guitar and brushes coax the song forward. Healthy doses of lap steel and backing vocals give it that charming country feel. It’s full of character.

I love Harmony’s voice on this. Subtle and smoky and seductive. She’s a joy to listen to. And the lyrics are on-point. “Running around with your headlights down/ Seemed like a good idea at the time.” How can a line feel that evocative, by saying that little? Every line feels like a life lesson. It’s the kind of thing that I adore.

I could go on, but the best praise I can give this track is; go and listen to it. Add it to your ‘chill’ playlist, or ‘Sunday Chill.’ Add it in somewhere. I think you need it in your life.

‘Good Idea’ is out now – available to Stream/Purchase here.
