“I have regrets and disappoints / I can pretend I don’t” is the opening lyric to ‘Being Strange,’ the latest track to be released from Indoor Pets’ upcoming debut album ‘Be Content’.
It’s a bold opening line that fits in with the band’s habit for saying-whatever-you’re-thinking lyrics; with a running time of 2.44 and the first chorus hitting before the 30 second mark, it also fits in snugly with the band’s well crafted, catchy catalogue.
As with the previous single ‘Hi,’ the production is full and crisp, with sharp guitar lines and choruses that burst out of the speakers in a highly satisfying fashion. Ultimately, ’Being Strange’ is a comforting, upbeat track about the joys of not fitting in: “I love being strange, it’s an easy fit for me,” Jamie Glass rejoices in the song’s irresistible chorus. How many songs this catchy can one band produce? Always one more.
Indoor Pets’ debut album ‘Be Content’ is released on Wichita Recordings on Friday 8th March 2019.
