TRACK OF THE DAY: Chez Ali – ‘Blue Cheese’

Whoa, isn’t this a lovely slice of Swedish cosmic-croon-pop? Elias Mahfoud, one quarter of Stockholm’s best named band Steve Buscemi’s Dreamy Eyes, tip-toes out on his own under the moniker Chez Ali, and ‘Blue Cheese‘ is as chilled and compelling an intro as you could ask for.

For best listening, lean back in a bath, draped in dimly lit red light; the vibrating guitars get tied up in the steam circling the ceiling, whilst Mahfoud’s quivering vocals quietly serenade you to relaxation heaven.

Calling to mind Yellow Days, or Mac DeMarco’s more tender moments, Chez Ali’s brand of late-night love songs are sure to steal a few broken hearts. Taken from a point of realness, this debut is imbued with personal feeling:

”Blue Cheese deals with the insecurities and paranoia that can arise when you suspect a relationship is nearing its end whilst also knowing there’s nothing you can do about it.”

Out on Swedish indie label Rama Lama Records, ‘Blue Cheese’ is not one to sleep on, no matter how hypnotising Chez Ali’s aura can be.

‘Blue Cheese’ is out now via Rama Lama Records – and is available to Stream/Purchase here.
