Latest single, ‘Out of Her Mind’, from Macclesfield’s tropi-pop trio, Cassia, is a fruity fusion of untouchable musicality – busting pop convention with individual instrumental quirks, and tropical rhythmic jerks.
The single’s tribal undertones weight the track a solid percussive grounding; shifting and sliding a rhythm for jumping bass and danceable guitar to sing from, as Jacob Leff (drums) employs tumbling tom toms into pop-class shake, easy on the ear, yet busy on the mind.
Carefully crafted guitar-work summons escapism, as Rob Ellis (vocals/guitar) trips from chorded verse chops to melodic choruses bops, while his warm, untroubled voice paints a sun in the sky no matter the vibe.
Cassia maintain their firmly pronounced fusion of home-grown indie-pop with calypso-captured reggae treats, celebrating cultural collisions in sound, as ‘Out of Her Mind’ places delicate English romanticism alongside sweet Caribbean exotics, combining sunshine with smiles in a contemporary musical mixture of world-travelled influence.
‘Out of Her Mind’ is released on 26th October 2017, and will also appear on Cassia’s forthcoming debut EP, ‘Movers and Shapers’.
Cassia will conclude their UK tour with shows at:
26th Oct – Broadcast, Glasgow
28th Oct – Deaf Institute, Manchester
