Now into its eleventh year, Bingley Music Live has become one of Yorkshire’s most celebrated music festivals and has been graced by some of music’s biggest names including Chic, Primal Scream, Happy Mondays, Echo & the Bunnymen to name a few. 2017 is no exception, with some huge headliners and a stack of other acts. We’re spoilt for choice this year, but as we don’t have time-travelling abilities we’ve had to pick a select few of our favourites. Here are our Top Five choices:
MANIC STREET PREACHERS // Friday – Main Stage
This is a no-brainer. With songs such as ‘A Design for Life’, ‘Motorcycle Emptiness’ and ‘Your Love Alone’ the Welsh rock giants are sure to deliver the most hit-packed singalong set of the weekend, so cancel any other plans and secure yourself a spot at the Main Stage for this one.
KRRUM // Sunday – Main Stage
Hailing from Leeds, Krrum are one of the most exciting acts around right now and are in both Radio 1 (Annie Mac, Huw Stephens) and Beats 1 (Zane Lowe)’s good books. Their sound mixes quirky drum grooves with colourful brass samples and huge choruses that stick to you like honey. Having already performed at this year’s Big Weekend and Lovebox festivals, this slot at Bingley rounds off their summer very nicely. Their latest EP ‘Evil Twin’ is out now and is sure to get a good play on Sunday’s Main Stage.
ANTEROS // Saturday – Discovery Stage
If you like feel-good sugary pop with an extra kick, head to the Discovery Stage on Saturday for Anteros. Their 2016 Breakfast EP was seriously tasty and this year’s Drunk EP has seen them continue to produce solid gold. ‘The Beat’, ‘Drunk’ and latest single ‘Cherry Drop’ are all guaranteed to get you bopping, almost certainly with a Pimm’s or three in tow. Come on, see summer out in style.
DAN OWEN // Saturday – Main Stage
A pure ‘one man and his guitar’ story, Dan Owen is undoubtedly bringing one of the most soulful voices to the weekend, with ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Made to Love You’ giving you your bluesy ballad fix for the festival. Dan’s latest single ‘Moonlight’ is out now and he is embarking on a headline UK tour in October this year.
ISLAND // Sunday – Discovery Stage
With their brilliant new EP ‘A Place You Like’, ISLAND cemented themselves as a true force to be reckoned with, passionate vocals and intricate arrangements result in a sound that could easily be filling arenas in the near future. Catch ISLAND on the Discovery Stage and let them cure your post-Saturday night binge.
