Chesterfield indie-pop outfit TRASH reveal the latest teaser of their forthcoming self-titled debut EP, with the wonderfully upbeat ’81’. Fusing indie instincts with melancholic melodies, for nostalgic basking in the sun.
‘81’ patiently wades through verses at sharpening tempo, looking back but pacing ahead, as recycling riffs activate Derbyshire dreams, before unbridling harmonic choruses of string-style flora and fauna.
The song provides a self-motivating setting for taking stock, encapsulating the crises of adolescent aesthetics and idiosyncratic identities, while juxtaposing thick-set tom beats on the uphill verse climb with triumphant chorus proclamations accepting the uncertainty of youth.
If ‘81’ and previous release, ‘Migraine’ are anything to go on, TRASH’s debut EP will be a record to remember.
‘81’ is available now through Clue Records, and is included on debut EP, ‘TRASH’, released August 11th.
