TRACK OF THE DAY: Glass Peaks – ‘Speak & Spell’

Fast becoming hotly tipped as a ‘break-through band for 2017’, South-East band Glass Peaks release their sophomore single ‘Speak & Spell’. Continuing in the light of their debut single ‘Your Eyes’ (acclaimed as BBC Introducing’s ‘Record Of The Week’ back in January), ‘Speak & Spell’ unreels evocative and dynamic pop from the four-piece.

Combining the melancholic brood of the likes of Joy Division and The Smiths with modern vitality, ‘Speak & Spell’ voices hauntingly moody notes lined with slick electronic touches. Glass Peaks stir the brooding purr of punk into contemporary gloom. For fans of White Lies to Editors, this is an introspective alt-pop band for you.

The Kent hailing four-piece find a pleasant balance between raw power, poignant song-craft and methodical pop. With both an alternative yet accessible sound, it’s no surprise Glass Peaks are being wagered as a break through band for the year.

Glass Peaks’ new single ‘Speak & Spell’ is out now.
