Building on their debut release ‘Forget It’s Good’, eclectic Glaswegian trio Dama Scout have released second track ‘All In Too’.
A jagged mix of kraut-rock and noise-pop, ‘All In Too’ is dark and edgy. Citing a broad range of influences – from Deerhoof to The Beatles, Autolux to Meshuggah – the track is heavily disparate also, switching between crunchy, atonal verses with dreamy vocals and uplifting melodies in the chorus. This sharp contrast is the perfect demonstration of their intelligent song-writing ability; chaos blended seamlessly and naturally into serene harmony.
These shifts of energy are echoed poignantly in the lyrics – ‘All In Too’ cuts a delicate line between themes of fear and togetherness. The recording process also contributes to this juxtaposition – pure, pristine vocals are countered by an acoustic guitar solo, which they captured using a broken laptop microphone. DIY or what?
A frenzied wailing mix of thematic ideas, energy and wavelength, ‘All In Too’ is definitely not a track to sleep on.
