Brighton is well and truly winning right now on the music front. Our new favourite find is four-piece Safe To Swim, the band released their debut EP ’20 Years’ a few months back and have since been spending their summer playing all the cool festivals. So today’s TOTD highlights their latest track ‘Pieces’, lifted from that very same debut EP.
While on first glance ‘Pieces’ depicts Safe To Swim at their most relaxed and sombre, but as each new component is introduced the foundation is rocked, until the intensity grows too high and the tension has to be released forcing an earthquake of angst to erupt. This is slacker grunge at its best – glowing with squirming synths, intelligent lyrics and thuddering bass but lead by restless vocals and searing guitars means that any notion of calm is shattered.
Safe to Swim will support All Tvvins at Brighton’s Hope & Ruin on Tuesday 18th October. For more information and tickets head here. Check out the band’s debut EP here on iTunes.
