Born Stranger stomp into character on dark synth-pop debut ‘Fire & The Flame’. A heady mix of polished electronic production akin to the pulse-quickening anthemia of Phantogram, and the fierce self-taught strength of Body Talk-era Robyn.
Although, this in-built power does not come without its heartbreak, referring to the inspiration behind ‘Fire & The Flame’, the band say “[The track] is about the moment you realise you and your childhood sweetheart are over, you’ve grown apart. It’s got a lot of hope but there is also a sense of sadness.”
It is true that out of pain comes beauty and personal growth, ‘Fire & The Flame’ proves this in abundance, whether it is from a brooding vocal or the pounding power pop of euphoric choruses exploding throughout. Every element of their debut is considered, vital and thrillingly bold – Born Stranger are here to rule.
‘Fire & The Flame’ is due for release on 22nd August.
