TRACK OF THE DAY: Gang – ‘Not A Reason’

Kent’s most celebrated oddballs Gang are less about hiding in the shadows. More so, they’re concerned with exposing the glaring truth’s. The band found their rhythm after they up-sticks to Brighton, where they captured the sparkle in their crown and the rest, as they say, is history.

Just as it is impossible to overcome the charms of Gang and their undeniable, if not sometimes unnerving presence, the group’s new single ‘Not A Reason’ once again unleashes a frothing menace upon the populous. Giving us another wild reason to love them more.

Gang are best found prowling around the darkest corners of the mind, this in part inspired the new single, as frontman Eric Tormey explains: “[‘Not A Reason’ is] mostly about irrational thoughts overcoming reason, how damaging a lack of logic can be, and the frightening realisation that nothing really has a reason.” And just as easy as it is for the mind to dredge up the deadliest thoughts, Gang enact their savagery upon layers of sludgy distortion and pained howls. There’s never a dull moment when Gang are about.

‘Not a Reason/Green Manalishi’ is due for release on 10th June, via Cornershop POP. Alongside a super limited edition, sew-on back patch designed by Jordan Gray.
