TRACK OF THE DAY: Albin Lee Meldau – ‘Lou Lou’

It was a few months ago when we discovered the haunting storytelling of Swedish singer, Albin Lee Meldau, when he supported AURORA on a string of UK dates. Now having officially launched his debut single ‘Lou Lou’, we can’t say we ever want to be free of Meldau’s beautiful rapture.

With every twist and peak of Meldau’s captivating but distinctive husky voice, he breaks down in endearing vulnerability as he re-tells the destruction that has been caused by a disparate love matching. Where one person is solely at the mercy of the other. His expressive tone is unrelenting – quivering and disarming with force – while his songwriting, equally bares all. Matched by the sparse but moving instrumental backing, ‘Lou Lou’ is quite simply breathtaking.

For an artist to express themselves so openly and powerfully in the first introduction, and for it to hold such weight, and a real honest connection. It is truly something quite remarkable to witness.

Albin will be performing at this year’s Great Escape festival in Brighton between 21st and 22nd May. Tickets can be found here.
