It’s time to get serious, we have new music from October Drift, the first fruits to appear from them since the drawls of winter began. ‘Losing My Touch’ continues their assault on our defenceless hearts, with the band offering up an abrasive sonic shock of shoegaze gloom. Yet there are still glimmers of light that come through within the post-punk offensives newest offering, achieving maximum impact.
While sonically, the onslaught rages on in every ravaged chorus, lingering onwards into something of majestic choral beauty. All consciousness fades when we reach the stricken vocals of singer Kiran Roy, held together by his consuming despair that he is “losing touch” with the world around him. We are left with no solace but to cling on to his every word.
October Drift release their debut EP ‘Stranger Days’ on 25th March, via Scruff of the Neck Records. Pre-order the EP here on iTunes.
