Roo Panes recently revealed the second track to be lifted from his sophomore record, Paperweights. ‘The Original’ speaks of going back to your roots and stripping away the façade that we sometimes paint ourselves in. To ultimately, find some kind of solace within ourselves.
Although, the song only spans under three minutes, Panes still manages to capture the heartstrings. It is his quiet reflective songwriting that really speaks volumes, along with the gentle strum of his guitar, ‘The Original’ is a beautiful pastoral portrait of self-realisation. The accompanying visuals for the track offer up a candid look at life on the road, from rehearsals, backstage moments to the show itself. The video’s intimate, often one-on-one, storytelling role helps to lift the song’s darker truths into a light-hearted place.
Roo Panes second album ‘Paperweights’ will be released on 4th March 2016. Pre-order it here.
