Since LA’s Lostboycrow released the first taste of his hybrid sound, of electronic alt-pop and deliciously dark R&B flavours late last year, he has garnered the love and praise of many tastemakers, and shot to the top of our list of must-see acts. Currently in the middle of a residency at LA’s Dirty Laundry, which will continue with a following two more shows on 16th June and 23rd June. We decided it was about time that we caught up with Lostboycrow to delve deeper into his musical tastes, with a summer playlist curated by man himself. Enjoy…
In making a summer playlist I’ve decided there are far too many warm & wavy anthems & bangerz to narrow down or pick favorites. I’ve also discovered there are a few different moods to the soundtrack of said season, and so I have divided it up into 3 sections:
“Summer Starts” crossroads, uncertainty & that feeling of youthful immortality – usually happy.
“Summer Swells” best described as that perfectly in-the-moment, monumental excursion our hearts seem to stumble upon once or twice in a lifetime – think John Cusack with a boom box or Tuck asking Winnie Foster to be his everlasting.
Last but not least “Summer Sads” with any “Ain’t no mountain high enough” high there is sure to be a myriad of lower than low frequencies to be felt. These songs still spoke of boardwalks & beaches but rather than a bright or beaming chorus, a soft blue flame- perhaps all remains from a summer swell.
