Irish sibling duo, Hudson Taylor, dropped the music video for their new single, Battles, earlier today. After announcing last week that they have received a coveted spot at this year’s Reading and Leeds festival, Hudson Taylor are soaring to greater heights with each passing day and Battles is a great example of exactly why.
Battles blends the duo’s folk pop sensibilities so finely together that it’s impossible not to be swept up in its mystique, the track is an exhilarating rush from start to finish. Stirring, thumping, raw emotion beseeches every thundering piano key and guitar chord, every gut curdling harmony, every heart wrenching lyric.
Battles is a wondrous, heart pounding musical journey that erupts with passion, rich melodies and provokes a visceral connection. The music video perfectly captures the intensity of the track and the hunger and yearning desire that also plagues the song. Undoubtedly, Battles is a triumph. It’s an eruption of feeling and fight that cannot be matched by any other genre other than folk, and Hudson Taylor do it so well, they are fastly becoming, in my eyes, the most exciting band around at the minute.
‘Battles’ will be released June 15th. Catch Hudson Taylor this summer playing at some of the UK’s biggest and best festivals including Cambridge Folk Festival, Redfest, The Great Escape and Dot to Dot festival.
