Song of the Week

SONG OF THE WEEK: The Twoks – ‘First Light’

Melbourne based duo, The Twoks, just dropped their latest single, First Light, earlier this week. It’s a great introduction to the band if you are new to them and a welcome return from the Australian duo if you’re already familiar with them. The duo is headed up by Xani Kolac, lead vocalist/electric violin and Mark Leahy on drums. If you like Kate Bush‘s experimentalism, then you’ve love First Light and The Twoks.

The track glows with The Twoks signature style of electric violin and orchestral notes, it is a dance epic, pure passion pop at it’s best. It’s proud and pounding rhythm, danceable beat and sweet female vocal are it’s strength, you might expect because it’s just the two of them, their sound wouldn’t sound as full or epic as it does for a full band, but you’d totally wrong there. They effortlessly have created something that works on every level, it’s anthemic, it’s melodious and it’s captivating, they have created something very unique and I can’t wait to hear more from this duo.
