HYPE OF THE DAY: Louis Spoils

Louis Spoils is the latest musical venture from Melbourne based musician, Jake Rush. Having already supported Aussie mega band The Basics this year and releasing his self-titled début EP, he is now ready to take 2014 by storm. Already set to join Canada’s Half Moon Run as support on their nationwide tour of Australia in January, the new year is looking anything but spoiled for Rush.

Louis Spoils just last week released his début music video for the song, Sleep At Night, which features on his self-titled EP also, and is graced by the presence of fellow music heavyweights and good friends of Spoils, Gotye’s Wally De Backer, who plays drums and percussion on all the tracks on the EP and Kane Mazlin, who provides harmonious backing vocals on the track.

The track itself is a myriad of sounds, ranging from electronic symphonies, to strings and distorted vocals. It’s melodious, kaleidoscopic soundscape makes you want to hit the repeat button over and over, just to understand every element that makes the track so effective and powerful. A great début single.
