LIVE PREVIEW: BBC Radio 2 in the Park 2024

BBC Radio 2 is set to host its annual ‘In the Park’ music event in Preston this year, it’s a three-day celebration packed with live performances from some of the best known names in popular music, plus there will also be DJ sets from some of the station’s presenting talent (and for the first time ever, BBC Radio 2 in the Park has a Pre-Party happening the night before the main event begins). Taking place in September over the weekend of 6th-8th, Preston’s Moor Park will see over 15 acts performing across two days of live music, with a Pre-Party featuring BBC Radio 2 DJs staged beforehand to kick off the weekend.

While the Friday night is reserved for dancing, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th will see live music reign supreme. This year’s event begins with a Pre-Party on Friday, 6th September featuring a selection of BBC Radio 2’s presenting talent who will each offer a DJ set throughout night: Vernon Kay, Rylan, DJ Spoony, Scott Mills and Sara Cox are scheduled to take part.

Saturday, 7th September beckons the start of the live music to begin, with the main stage welcoming Sting as headliner for the day. Sugababes, Snow Patrol, Craig David, Kim Wilde, Pixie Lott, Shaznay Lewis and Travis will also be performing on this day. The Radio 2 DJ stage will have Dermot O’Leary, Jo Whiley, Michelle Visage, Romesh Ranganathan, Rylan, Scott Mills and Tony Blackburn all curating their own tailored DJ set for the people to enjoy during the Saturday’s festivities.

Sunday, 8th September is the closing day for the event, and will see Pet Shop Boys headline. Manic Street Preachers, Sister Sledge (feat. Kathy Sledge), Paul Heaton, Gabrielle, Shed Seven, Delta Goodrem and Haircut 100 will also be performing on the day. The Radio 2 DJ stage for the Sunday programming is jam packed with uniquely-themed opportunities to see some of Radio 2’s most loved DJ’s perform in a live setting, playing the songs they know are guaranteed to get the crowds moving, catch sets by DJ Spoony, Gary Davies, Michael Ball, Paddy McGuinness, Sara Cox, Trevor Nelson and Vernon Kay.
