‘Tunnel Vision‘ is the latest single from Scottish-born, London based-singer songwriter Neev, and marks the beginning of a string of releases for 2020. Having released her debut single, ‘Burning To Dust,’ just last year, this track marks a vast leap in ambition from her humble acoustic beginnings.
Here, she branches out her sound to incorporate a rich backdrop of elements, including innovative percussion, dynamic backing vocals and luscious strings (the track also features Neev’s aunties on cello and violin respectively, a true family affair!). Displaying a real lyrical flair, Neev weaves her minute emotional observations throughout the song, delivered with much warmth and delicacy.
There’s a real Arcade Fire/Fleet Foxes vibe to ‘Tunnel Vision,’ that blends deftly textured instrumentation with direct emotional lyricism, to create a number that has an effortless jaunty flow to it. It creates a feeling of everyone chipping in dozens of minute ideas to create something wonderfully whole, without ever feeling stuffed or overcrowded.
With much more in store from Neev throughout the year, based on this latest offering, our ears are in for many more treats to come.
