TRACK OF THE DAY: Meadowlark – ‘Body Lose’

Ahead of their UK tour and the release of their debut album ‘Postcards’ (due 30th June), Meadowlark confirm their latest single to be the enchantingly well-written ‘Body Lose’.

The beautifully put together avant-pop song starts with the celestial vocals of Kate McGill and the subtly played instrumental work of Dan Broadley on keyboards. This bare bones introduction proves to be very effective, for when the tempo tunes in and tightens at the raising of a ’80s electro slow-dance, you can’t help but join in and sway your body along to the music in a hypnotic and carefree state.

Taking the frame in a variety of different emotions (travelling from melancholy to disbelief, resentment to resilience, all the way to self-control), ‘Body Lose’ feels resoundingly personal and also immensely relatable. A feeling, I’d like to believe, that all good songs should evoke. The track releases a rapturous, beatific ambience for the duration and once again, Meadowlark manage to touch upon the reason why we are so drawn to their musical stories, yet still keeping us intrigued and excited for what’s to come.

‘Body Lose’ is featured on the forthcoming debut album, out June 30th via Believe Recordings. Pre-order here.
