Combining elements of Radiohead, Bowie and The Strokes, and contrasting huge stadium choruses with intricate and complex verses, ‘Drained’ is the latest from Cambridge three-piece Too Cool Kid.
Boasting bluesy guitar riffs and striking Thom Yorke-esque vocal lines, ‘Drained’ is powerful, infectious, and unequivocally cool. Aside from the melody and lyrical content, one thing highly notable about the track is the stark contrast in dynamics. The complicated and knotty verses play wonderfully off the soaring and cathartic choruses.
Comprised of members Jay Plent, Ross Shelley-Pilsworth, and George Addison-Atkinson, the band have headlined multiple festivals in Cambridge and Essex, and their progressive and unorthodox sound has earned them support slots with the likes of Manchester band Everything Everything. Their future is looking bright, if I do say so myself.
