Introductions can be tedious and unremarkable, but not in the case of Leeds troop Team Picture. Who make rather light sport of non-conformity on debut ‘Birthday Blues’ – a fuzzy breeze of lo-fi psych rock.
Just shy of hitting six minutes, the cut tails the blackened atmosphere-building techniques of The Horrors early work and fuses it with the fuzz-pop punchiness of EAT FAST, all without loosing its own righteous flair. The lyrics detail the trappings of lonerism and the confusion that it brings: “Ain’t nobody wanna be friends with me…” This is sharp, unrestrained, universally understood music making. Keep an eye on this band.
