TRACK OF THE DAY: Pure Youth – ‘Other Side’

Indie. Indie. Indie. 2016 sure is the year for it, and it looks as though London based four-piece Pure Youth are the latest to get in on the act. No strangers to early-stage success, they have amounted large support from the likes of BBC Radio 2, Amazing Radio and featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday.

A Catfish And The Bottlemen-esque riff, hook, rhythm and sound carries this track from start to finish, and with this being the start of a string of releases over the coming year, these four guys could do worse than to follow in the Catfish path.

A song that was written about “longing to be back in a good place”, there is a joyful playfulness that sits just right, perhaps aided by the smell of barbecue in the Summer breeze. A simplistic touch that Pure Youth deploy – knowingly or not, is the perfect touch and follow-up from their previous track ‘I’m Not Yours’. With a bundle of songs expected in 2016, they only look to add and bolster to the excitement of what is going to be another strong year for this mammoth genre.
