It seems as though a woozy summer jam is becoming the hallmark of a good British band, and twinkling into the summer limelight comes Swimming Tapes with another mesmerising dream pop hit.
The hazy guitars on ‘Set The Fire’ allow a daydream of soft colours and carefree thoughts to float endlessly around the room. At no point do the vocals stun you with power, nor do they let you down like a limp balloon; this is as close as you can get to exhaling lyrics in a single, seamless breath.
Mingling around the full sound of American rockers like Band Of Horses or The War On Drugs, whilst flirting with an unavoidably calm aura, there’s a sense that the English sunshine-song could become a trademark of the times, with Swimming Tapes helping the push.
