It’s true, I listen to a lot of new music every day. However, every track doesn’t always tickle the musical tastebuds, yet there’s the occasional moment when you hear a new band for the first time and for those three or so minutes, it’s pure magic. And this can’t be truer of the debut track, ‘Wasted Away’, from Manchester’s fledgling noise pop trio, False Advertising.
Fuzzed-up bass and thrashing hits of percussion roar with attitude, making for a fiercely melodic and aggressively visceral assault on the senses. Sodden in anguish, a powerful female vocal rips into your heart like it’s buttercream. There’s no better way to move on or get over someone like venting through song.
Of course, now the next step is the live shows as ‘Wasted Away’ kind of leaves you wanting more, doesn’t it? And you’re in luck. The band will be supporting the brilliant Turrentine Jones at Manchester’s Deaf Institute on 3rd April. Tickets are available here.
