INTRODUCING: The Slow Readers Club

The Slow Readers Club are a four-piece from Manchester, and are a great credit to Manchester’s music scene. Melancholic lyrics intertwined with an anthemic, orchestral sound is what makes them so powerful, in my mind. With songs like Block Out The Sun, One More Minute and Follow Me Down, they are unstoppable. The slow-burning intensity of Block Out The Sun by far shows their mastery in producing good quality music.

From the moment I first heard The Slow Readers Club, I was hooked. They have this special quality about them that shines through, making it more than just music, but something life changing. I like to describe their music as beautifully depressing, even though that may not sound like a compliment, it is. Their songs are fuelled with regret and melancholy, but also at the heart of their music is that of hope and change, giving their music an uplifting quality also.
