TRACK OF THE DAY: Tempesst – ‘Too Slow’

I can’t find much about Tempesst online as they’re pretty new, but from I’ve read and heard they’re worth keeping an eye on. They’re kind of like a sun-dazed Fleet Foxes, with shades of Tame Impala in the vocals. Their debut track ’Tidal Wave’ made an impact, earning positive reviews from DIY and NME. Their latest effort (down below) is better, in my opinion. The song is really fucking cool.

Despite the lucidity of ’Too Slow’, there’s a real slacker groove to it, which the band thrive upon. The song makes a few gentle shifts between sections but really it just flows along sounding pretty, making it a nice tune to bob along to (not least because of it’s infectious rhythm). Guitars thick with reverb and groovy drums make for a safe but effective follow up to ’Tidal Wave’. ’Too Slow’ is just a great pop song that makes a welcome shuffle over to psych on occasion.

Too Slow is out now. Buy it on iTunes here.
